Bagergue, at around 1,400 m above Salardú, is the highest permanently-inhabited village in the Val d'Aran, and is often listed among the most beautiful villages in Spain.
Since 2019 it has been the first Catalan village named one of Spain's Most Beautiful Villages (Los Pueblos más Bonitos de España). Beyond its steep stone lanes and the Romanesque church of Sant Fèlix, it's known for artisan produce — the family-run Formatgeria Tarrau there makes cow- and sheep-milk cheeses you can taste at source.
